who wants to take me out for dinner?
26th-Aug-2006 05:41 pm

- I thought I had at least some money, but I got $100 worth of bills in my lap today so I guess not V_V

- Happy birthday Anthony :)

- I need to get new reading material for my flight back to Norway. What though? I've read all the ones I want at the airport pocket book shop.

- Our whole area smells like plums cuz the fruit is falling down all over the place. It's really messy.

- Yesterday I met a hedgehog on the sidewalk. He was trying to outrun me with his little feet like "eeeehn!". I wish I had my camera there ^_^

- Congrats Jeff with the new job!

- && Congrats Rod with the new appartment. Expect me to visit a lot ;]

- I start working full time (well 75%, but it's still every weekday) this monday, and I'm looking forward to it for so many reasons. Steady income will be welcome. I eat more when I'm there, so maybe I'll gain some weight. And I will definately get in better shape, since there is a lot of heavy lifting and stuff.

- I'm seriously looking into photography programmes in New York City.

- Anders is at Victor's this weekend and I'm totally organizing an orgy. Or at least a little tea party.

Aw, hedgehogs are so cute and I can imagine little feets. God that's so cute.
Yeah steady income! If I was old enough to work, I'd work. But I'm not so I rely on parentals.
Tea parties rule. But they rule even more when the teapot isn't full of tea and it's filled with coke or something.

Kiddie coke or grownup coke?

I use to see hedgehogs in my garden in Germany all the time and I always wanted to pick them up but then I thought about what a stupid idea that is. As far as reading goes I would suggest "The Satanic Verses" or pick up a book of short stories by Murakami if you just want something light. Some of my favourite books though that you may or may not be interested in are, "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov (I've read this book 3 times, all different translations because I'm a nerd like that and if you can get it I would suggest the Burgin and O'Connor translation) "Smilla's Sense of Snow" by Peter Høeg or the "Hunting of the Snark" is another good light read.

House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski.

You should atleast go SEE a copy of it and flip through the pages.
Its like no book you'll ever see or read.

try The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (you can't go wrong with a Marcus, I always say).
1) been on the NYT bestseller list for ages
2) it's cross-over young adult fiction that has actually sold more to adults because, simply, it tells a great story that is beautifully written.
3) briefly, the central character is a young woman who becomes obsessed with books - acquiring them and reading them - in Germany during WWII, and thus discovering ideas and thinking for herself. as the back-cover blurb says, "it is a story about the power of words to make worlds".
4) it's 584 pages long. talk about value! :)
27th-Aug-2006 02:22 pm (UTC)
I'll look into it :)
27th-Aug-2006 06:28 am (UTC)
woo hoo! orgy!

Hedgehogs are so cool. Unless they attack you or something.
27th-Aug-2006 02:23 pm (UTC)
Hedgehogs don't attack. They're hardly canrnivores :P
