You can run on for a long time,
Run on for a long time,
Run on for a long time,
Sooner, or later, God’ll cut you down.
Sooner, or later, God’ll cut you down.

Go and tell that long tongue liar,
Go and tell that midnight rider,
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter,
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down.

Well my goodness gracious,
Let me tell you the news.
My heads been wet with the midnight dew.
I’ve been down on bended knee,
Talkin to the man from Galiee.
He spoke to me in a voice so sweet,
I thought I heard the shuffle of angels feet.
He called my name and my heart stood still,
When He said “John go do my will”

Well my goodness gracious,
Let me tell you the news.
My heads been wet with the midnight dew.
I’ve been down on bended knee,
Talkin to the man from Galiee.
He spoke to me in a voice so sweet,
I thought I heard the shuffle of angels feet.
He called my name and my heart stood still,
When He said “John go do my will”

Go and tell that long tongue liar,
Go and tell that midnight rider,
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter,
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down.

You can run on for a long time,
Run on for a long time,
Run on for a long time,
Sooner, or later, God’ll cut you down.
Sooner, or later, God’ll cut you down.

You can throw your rock, hide your hand,
Workin in the dark against your fellow man.
But as sure as God made black and white,
What’s done in the dark,
Will be brought to the light.

Go and tell that long tongue liar,
Go and tell that midnight rider,
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter,
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down.

Mobey does an exceptional remake of the song.... one of my favorites.

Cash always suprises me. This old man singing quality about him, world weary, humble, and his songs are picked up and covered by some other exceptional artists. I love this song too. :)

And that voice! He's got the most amazing voice I have ever heard.

I wont say it's the "best" voice I've ever heard? I'll say it might have some of the most genuine personality I've ever come across. That man sings honestly. :D

I love it whenever something goes from Slipknot to something else. Anything else :P

Seriously though, I love Cash. Especially all the remakes he made....they are so powerful.

on his new album, dylan sounds very much like cash at times. i guess that's a bit of a tribute from BD.
those Eastwood movies are great :D

u aren't keen on dylan?
there is/was a bit of a mutual admiration society going on that involved dylan, tom waits, johnny cash, tom petty and a few others.
they are all HUGE egos, but they all acknowledged that they were influenced by each other, and admired their work. almost all of them have collaborated with each other at some point - even though their styles seem very different.
i think it's time i sent you another CD! i'll add u on msn and u can give me the address then.
peace, T.
