Everyone go check out my dude Mikel's new journal. He just joined here and I'm sure he'd like you to have a look.

It's not safe for work though.

OK so I've been shaving my bum for I don't know how long. Mostly I've been fine, but lately it's been getting a bit spotty back there. Like....redness ya know?

Does anyone have advice how to counter this?

rash cream! haha.

I love that photo on the journal you linked of the boy with the chain mail hood. it's absolutely striking

Rash cream?

And tell him, not me ;)
23rd-Oct-2006 07:45 am (UTC)
I don't know if they have it over there but benadryl anti itch works well or cortisone ointment
23rd-Oct-2006 07:47 am (UTC)
I'll have a look :)

I ♥ Toxicboy. His photos are amazingly beautiful, etc.

Anyhow, I think you should let it rest, keep it clean and... then start shaving again (if their gone, ofcourse)?
23rd-Oct-2006 07:31 am (UTC)
Agreed :)

But nooo. I can't deal. I want it smooth :P
23rd-Oct-2006 07:42 am (UTC)
But you can't shave it when it's red 'nd spotty, right?
23rd-Oct-2006 07:47 am (UTC)
It's not *that* bad :P

I just want it to go away is all.

Maybe veet would be better than shaving?
23rd-Oct-2006 08:07 am (UTC)
Veet never made me smooth enough really. There would always be hairs left.
23rd-Oct-2006 08:10 am (UTC)
Then I say aloe vera!

It's a gel made from a certain cactus and it's incredibly soothing to irritated skin... it's even used to treat burns :-)
23rd-Oct-2006 10:47 am (UTC) - everything you want to know about shaving ur bum
if it is just a little spotty, then i think the problem is what you do After u shave. i'm going to suggest you just make very sure u treat ur skin as gently as possible, Then give it a bit of a rest before u "use" your bum (relax, i mean before u put pants on and go out :p )
1) only shave on an evening when you are staying at home. then u can rest your bum for 12 hours before u need to go out again :)
2) make sure ur razor is sharp. and use some kind of shaving cream to soften the hair and ur skin before u shave. IF you recently changed ur soap or creme... maybe ur skin is a bit allergic to the new one? maybe you can find one of these in Stockholm: "alba botanica moisturing shave cream" or "coochy cream". Both get very good raps from people who use them, but coochy is more expensive. (you may find it in sex shops because it is specially made for shaving pussies!)
3) don't shave too close! if you use one of those fancy three-blade razors, or try to shave against the hair to make it a close shave, you increase the chances of a rash (because the hair ends up UNDER the level of the skin, and irritates the surface when it tries to grow again). The ideal shave is a shave that leaves the hair NOT under the skin level.
3) when you have shaved, wash ALL the soapy stuff off, then dry it well and then put some soothing lotion on. Don't use expensive stuff with scent, just ask ur pharmacy to recommend a good "natural" skin lotion.
4) wear loose pants for the night. boxers are good. and just before u go to bed, dust your bum with Johnson's baby powder. NO tight pants gives the skin time to recover and dry out naturally.
If it is still a problem after that, let me know. I'll fly over and kiss it better for you :p

so im a girl no need to shave my bum ...
but for the pubes (thats a very sensitive zone too ...) i use:
2.)intuition that a girl two-in-one shaver,
it has got the creamy stuff included
3.)and than you have to cream a lot with ointment...
but first off all i would just let alone for a while ...
perhaps hes just mad with you because of reasons i dont know ?!!
talk a bit to him you'll see everything gonna be okay ...

speaking of whales : save the beavers \o/

O.M.G..that boy is pure heaven..
about your bum..stop shaving for a week or two and don't shave to close.

Men of African descent often have problems shaving their faces, because their hair grows in such tight, tiny curls, it often gets ingrown after shaving. If your drugstore has them, the products that black men use on their faces can help. They're usually called "bump fighter" or something like that.

The razor I use on my body is one for black men (I'm white). It keeps the blade from directly touching the skin, so the hair is cut very close to the skin, but not too close.

I agree with the idea to shave at night. If you sit on an area that you shaved, it could irritate that area, causing bumps.

Could be a few things things:

1) ingrown hairs but I doubt it

2) Sensitive skin - try changing the products you use to shave with and make sure to moisterise afterwards :o)

3) make sure you're razor is sharp and you go over the skin little as possible - more you shave an area the more sore it'll become.

Most of these have probably been covered already but my two pence worth at lesat!

sometimes it could just be a bit of a heat reash.
when your bum gets a bit sweaty or warm in pants and then your moving around in them alot,it could cause irritation.
either way what ever is causing it, theres a really good cream that you can use, i dont know if you can get it where you are
but its called penaten, its in a blue and gold tin.
it works on just about anyrashes, skin burns and skin iritations.
hopefully that could help.

i wonder that you pay so much attention to that detail! buuuuuuut i am sorry, i have no senseful idea. maybe your sweet bum gets that irritation because the skin gets dry cause of the coldness. then you should use a moisturizing cream?!
do we really talk about red bums? :)

comrade, i feel your pain. a friend of mine introduced me to baby-oil. it's fucken unbelievable! it prevents shaver's rash and also prevents hair from ingrowing - my bum is silky smooth ever since i started using that stuff and the skin itself even got softer, i think. try it - you wont regret it. just apply to dry ass after showering and you'll see
26th-Oct-2006 02:25 pm (UTC)
thanks man! :)
