Ugh I hate travelling. Most of the time is just waiting around anyway. I like watching the people though, and listening to them. Also the more I fly, the more comfortable I get in airport enviroments. They used to stress me the hell out :P

The photo is actually taken at like...2:30 pm. That was when the sun was setting. From now on the nights grow shorter though :)

The appartment!

It's sooo nice. The girl is a total sweetheart, and yesss I will be the one signing this motherfucker. All we need now is the landlord to approve it (so don't uncross your fingers yet).
It is in Akalla, which is about 20 minutes north with the tube. 8th floor in some 70s building with lots of other 70s buildings....typical suburb I suppose... 41 square meters...check! Furniture...check! Big bed...check! Internet...errr...ADSL? I don't know how good or bad that is. The rent is about 1500 crowns more than I currently pay, so I'll be even more poor, but eh.... I'll be living alone :) Alone! Everyone can visit...whenever I want! ^_^

Also, we decorated the Christmas tree...well mostly me really. I banned all the red balls and all the ugly stuff and I have to say it has never looked better.

haha, now I have to put pics of our Christmas tree. For one, it's fake because my mom thinks real ones cause fires and she's deathly afraid of fire (she grew up in a war) and two it's the tackiest thing on earth! Chock-full of red balls and ugly stuffs!

22nd-Dec-2006 11:58 pm (UTC)
oh and now that you're all alone, can I come and visit!

I love your tree! It's real, right?

ADSL shouldn't be too bad, as long as you have it from a reliable ISP (company). These days I think most ISPs offer their cheapest plans with 768 kbit/second download speed or more (in Norway Telenor's current slowest plan is 1.5Mbit/sec download).

One thing worth remembering about ADSL is that the maximum upload-speed is always much lower than the maximum download-speed - ADSL stands for Assymetrical Digital Subscriber Line. At our place we have Telenor's cheapest ADSL plan, and it offers 1.5 Mbit/sec down and 300 kbit/sec (0.3Mbit/sec) up. Even Telenor's most expensive subscription plan, which has 16 Mbit/sec download speed, still only has 700 kbit/sec (0.7 Mbit/sec) upload speed. Also, you can't get maximum donwload speed and upload speed at the same time - using one removes bandwidth for the other. For instance, if you use 20% of the available bandwidth for download, then the maximum upload capacity goes down 20%.

Now, what capacities the ADSL-subscription in that flat have will of course depend on what company the ADSL subscription is with. For instance, Telia in Sweden seems to offer somewhat higher upload speeds than Telenor does. Just about any type of ADSL-connection will be lots faster than ISDN or regular dial-up modems, while ADSL and internet-subscriptions via cable-tv tend to be comparable if the price is similar. Some lucky people live with access to fibre or other types of dedicated broadband-access (as opposed to Internet via cable-tv cables, or via phone-lines (i.e. ADSL and other DSL-types)) - such lucky people will tend to have access to very high speeds, and often download- and upload speed is identical up to a certain threshold level.

Thank you! I didn't know anything about it, so that was very informative.

It's good that you've found an apartment and man I use to always complain about it getting dark so early during the winter in Germany so I can hardly imagine what is it like any more north than Denmark in the winter.

Does any of this make sense? I need to stop learning other languages and learn English.
25th-Dec-2006 09:25 pm (UTC)
Haha it made perfect sense, don't worry.

did I missed something??..Sun setting at 2:30pm???? that sucks and not in a good way.
25th-Dec-2006 09:26 pm (UTC)
It's actually quite cozy this time of year. It gets old after new years though.

Man I always have to laugh too when comparing european christmas trees to americans ones because the americans ones are also so fat and different from the trees I've ever had in Europe.
25th-Dec-2006 09:31 pm (UTC)
I don't think the fat ones are all wrong though. I just wish people would moderate themselves when it comes to the decorating :P
23rd-Dec-2006 09:39 pm (UTC)
you europeans put your trees up so close to christmas... americans are always jumping the gun by putting them up in late november or the beginning of december.
25th-Dec-2006 09:32 pm (UTC)
Yeah just a couple of days before. The only other decorations in the month before is the advent lights and a star in the window.
24th-Dec-2006 12:53 am (UTC)
