hey hey isn't this a great idea? (ari you better be reading this!)
25th-Oct-2007 04:58 pm

My roomie had this idea for a project and I really liked it, so I'm giving it a go. Basically it means people who are interested send us plant seeds and we grow them here and update you on how they are doing.

I realise most of you probably couldn't care less about plants growing in our appartment, and I guess this explanation might turn kindof long so I'm putting the rest behind a link.

OK!

So as you might have guessed from photos and videos, my flatmate Sam is a bit of a plant freak and it has been rubbing off on me too. The place is filled with all sorts of plants, and one of my favorite things about it all is that they all have their own little story. For example this little sapling (or seed? i think it was sapling) he took from a Mirabilis plant in Japan has grown huge in the appartment and there is now like 5 big ones. Or this one little lemon tree that is growing in the bedroom. It has grown from the lemon stone of a lemon that came as a part of a lunch we had at an Italian restaurant last winter. Or this other plant that grew from a leaf he took from a plant in my appartment in Sweden. You know what I mean right? It really makes it more fun to follow the plants when they have stories like this.

And we really like the idea of growing plants that come from friends around the world. It really doesn't have to be something fancy either, it's more the background of it that is fun. Well if you want you can go and buy something for this as well, it's up to you.

So what you do is that you take your seeds/saplings/leaves/whatever and send them to my address. After that it is completely up to you what information you want to include in addition. Who you are I guess would be something :p What kind of plant it is maybe? And where you came across it. It's completely up to you!

I have no idea how many people will participate in this, but I'm hoping at least one or two? I haven't ran this part through Sam yet, but I'm guessing he will like the idea so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. There is this one plant we have a lot of and if you take a leaf off it all you have to do is put it on some soil and it will start growing a new plant. The more water and sunlight it gets, the faster it grows. So what I'm saying is that whoever sends us something, will get one of these leaves sent back by me. Then you can have a part of our appartment growing at your place ^^. Well some people might find it lame, but I like the thought of it and I guess if you read this far then you don't think it's too stupid either.

We will keep track of who's stuff is planted where and give updates now and then when there is progress :)

Soooo come on! Send us something we can grow yeah?

My address is:

I'll send you something you can sell on the "streets"....LOL! So cunning....Just kidding, just kidding....I think this is a brilliant idea! You could make a scrapbook of the plants once they grow along with the story behind it, maybe make it a niche book of some kind for gardeners to read. When I was a little lad I made a book of leaves with different colors for show and tell, I miss being little....so fun.....anyways.....I'm going to send something just so I can go to the post office and look really cool mailing a package to France.

But yeah, mail that package to France :D

What a silly last name!
26th-Oct-2007 12:29 pm (UTC)
At least in English it sounds sorta exotic. In Norwegian it sounds completely ridiculous :p
26th-Oct-2007 12:16 am (UTC)
I am indeed reading this!!!

Now, lets see, what shall I send you first/ I think perhaps an arisaema. Then perhaps an amorphophallus. Then shall we look for something even more exotic?

uhmmm...
26th-Oct-2007 12:30 pm (UTC)

Well actually just send me what you want. I'm sure it will be good :)
26th-Oct-2007 12:18 am (UTC)
Now, of course, your friends could send me weed seeds from around the globe. I could grow them, roll them and enjoy smokin them.
