watching the grass grow

I love Tekken and Pokemon. I love both Turbonegro and Kylie Minogue. I love cum and doggy style, and I love grafitti and street art. My favorite book series is the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, and I'm really looking for the next book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I love watching porn, and I love how well written that Dexter show is. I love hip hop, and when I lived in Trondheim I used to go to jams and stuff all the time. I used to study political science, and I was active in Amnesty International. I love getting totally addicted to a computer game and spending hours playing it.

I guess we stereotype eachother all the time and it is useful to some extent, but it is usually not very accurate. ..

You're such a well-rounded person Markus :)

I love that, and I'm kind of like that myself except with different things.

Great post. No one fits into any particular mold, that's why we're called individuals.
18th-Nov-2007 05:53 pm (UTC)
Ohhhh so that's why? :p
17th-Nov-2007 05:08 pm (UTC)

18th-Nov-2007 05:01 pm (UTC) - Finally
so i just now realized after following your blog for some time, that i an actually comment without having an account. LOL

so from that (this is two parts from your dlist post and here) stereotypes only work on ppl that are trying to fit into one, and out right say that they are trying to be like someone. Otherwise i never assume personality traits at a glance. Second, Imitation.... yeah.....
w/e i don't mind drawing inspiration, but make it your own. If i can pick up something someone did as being inspired by a work, it should say that somewhere. (that's just my take on it) Otherwise make a work your own and maybe take one element that inspired you.

oh and if you are having trouble with who this is (b/c i only manage to message you once in a blue moon) its Zach

stay frosty !

yeah! i am glad you figured out how ;)
19th-Nov-2007 10:50 pm (UTC) - Stereotyping

Wow, I haven't written a comment in your blog for a long time. Did you miss me? (yeah right) I will spare you my one-paragraph description like you wrote, unless you want to know. Then you will have to ask. :)

Regardless, it is funny, us humans, and how we figure out our world. If you ask just about anyone, they will say that they don't stereotype and that they try to see each person as an individual. Of course, every single one of us actually categorizes and stereotypes all sorts of thing all of the time. In fact, according to psychologists and neuroscientists, our ability to categorize or stereotype things is one of the powerful features of our brains and a key ability for our survival. An example of a way that stereotyping is useful is in our vision. We can look at a telephone that we have never seen before and still figure out what it is, based purely on our stereotypes of what phones are and which features or behaviors they have. Of course this ability bites us in the ass sometimes because we often over generalize things that shouldn't be, such as people. But this is almost hard-coded into our brains!

As we learn more about the brain, it is interesting to elucidate our limitations and short-comings. These new ideas are beginning to change lots of things about our society, especially our laws. Some of our laws punish people for doing things that they cannot help doing! It should be a fun ride to see how new knowledge about our brain's inner-workings will shape things, even within our lifetime.

My ramblings are over, for now. I hope you are well!
