Why didn't they just redo the elections in Florida and Michigan long ago? They had lots of time to do that. I'd be pissed off too if I was a voter there, but waiting until now just makes noone happy with the outcome. And again, I wonder why Hillary is doing this. She can't win, and if she really cared that much about this issue she would have pushed this a long time ago.

On another note, I will try to not say "yeah" as much anymore. "Yes" is nicer! So feel free to slap me if I do that.

i'm loving your pictures more and more each time. boo! ;)

also, you're investing quite a bit in talking about hillary. those outcomes with the election weren't really a win for her, and they weren't much of a loss for obama either. in the end, the numbers can't lie; it'll definitely be obama vs mccain for the election.

thanks boo :D

but then why is she doing this? is she really being irrational?

I think no one wanted to pay for new primary elections for those states.

I think Hillary and many of the women who support her think that staying in the race through to the very end makes a statement about not giving up. I've heard that her tenacity is felt on a personal level by lots of American women who have struggled to get anywhere in their careers and who repeatedly are encouraged to accept where they are, to not try to rise up. Lots of women have seen younger, less experienced men get promoted ahead of them at their jobs (kinda like the movie 9 to 5), and some of them see the race from that perspective.

Also, Hillary is a little bit crazy, and won't let go. Regardless of the whole feminism thing, she and Bill both are very good at trying every tactic. She's a player. Both of them are.

From my limited understanding, each party has rules as to when their primary elections can be held in each state. The states that lead in that process often predict who will actually get the nomination. The Democratic committee in Florida and Michigan decided to hold their elections early for whatever reason. They were warned that by the rules they agreed to abide by their elections would then be disqualified but they did it anyway.

Anyone who knows better is welcome to correct me. That's just what I've gotten without really paying attention to politics.

But then they should have worked out this a long time ago. Not just started compromising now, at this stage...

Hehe you're really into this US election eh?

YES ^^

the democratic national committee wanted to punish florida and michigan for illegally holding their primary dates before 5 february 2008. a lot of people on the rules committee felt that they needed to be extremely strict with enforcing punishment, otherwise other states might get the idea that they can mess with the party's primary system and get away scott-free. that, no one wanted to pay for another round of elections.

so why loosen up now, this late?

They're losening up so the delegates can count in the general election, and thus help beat McCain.

And yeah, they could never do a revote. Those things take years to set up and are quite expensive. :\

And Hilary is doing this to
a) gain leverage for future elections. She feels she cannot win if people call her a quitter
b) to try and gain leverage for the VP position, which Obama has been pretty clear he wont give to her.
c) Money Money Money. Her campaign is in debt up to it's eyeballs, which includes a chunk of her own personal fortune. If she had won, the debt would have more or less been cancled. Right now, it's all about trying to get leverage.

and, lastly? Both of the Clintons are self-absorbed egocentric asses who feel the White House belongs to them and will do just about anything to try and get it back.

Obama for the win! :D

Tell your white female friends! :P

I'm not really sure this is helping her for future elections, but yes the rest all sounds logical I suppose.

Aw look at your cute jeans and socks.
And I love Hillary :(

Why? :P

It's funny 'cause at first she was like, "Hey, Florida and Michigan shouldn't count!" and now that she sees it could benefit her, she's all for Florida and Michigan.

I see what you did there, Hillary.
2nd-Jun-2008 03:11 pm (UTC)
Yeah well that kind of thing is normal in politics I guess. She's just like the rest of them...

Cept Obama ^^

He is slightly better :P

2nd-Jun-2008 03:10 pm (UTC)
Actually, if you look closely I wasn't actually ranting about her :P
