so i'm sick and watching movies
28th-Jan-2009 08:48 pm

I thought I was getting better, but today was rough again. Poor me!

Anyways I am sure you would just love to hear my opinions on a couple of more movies :P I watched Australia last night and I watched CJ7 today.

Australia was really fucking long. And cheesy. I'm not sure I can count all the made-it-at-the-last-moment moments. I'll admit I enjoyed it on some level, but...it's a stupid movie.

I'd rather talk about the other one! If you don't know what CJ7 is, it's the newest movie from the Hong Kong guy who made Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. Trailer here. From the trailer it seems more like it is all about the little creature thing, but it is mostly about that adorable boy and his father. It is sooooooooooooo sweet! I loved loved loved this movie so much ^_^. I laughed and chuckled and....cried! I know I said I almost cried in Gran Torino, but this time tears were really rolling down my face. (but then again i didn't sleep at all last night and i guess i am a little extra emotionally sensitive :P)The energy and feeling is just so warm. The kid is a great actor! Wow... It waaarmed my heart and I can't wait to see it again. Maybe I will do it again tonight even ^_^

I like Baz L., but I hated Australia. He could not figure out and maintain a singular and precise way of telling his story. It was not juxtiposed in a way that worked, the styles did not mesh or enrich one another... they clashed. It was 2 or 3 stories when he should have focused on one, and the film was about an hour an a half too long. I was pretty disapointed in it, myself.

I thought the movie would end after they got to the boat. Turned out it was only half finished!

Also... I have a real problem when Villans are sneering total villans. I find them very, very boring. Poor directing choices all around.

Happy Birthday (yes, I'm late..Sorry)

I usually don't get a flu but this year I've already catched it three times... Hope you get better soon!

I saw your pictures from Japan and I really loved them (I like the ones in the aquarium with the children)...

Do more trips and post pictures!

Note: Your user picture looks like a screenshot from "The Science of Sleep" from Michel Gondry... It's awesome!

Woah, I have to see CJ7!
I saw both Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle and those were just hilarious. (For example the old woman in Hustle.. I almost died laughing because of that character)
Thx for the recommendations! :)
