so i finally tried shooting with film
25th-Feb-2009 11:44 pm

The actual shooting went alright but then me and my friend failed when we tried to develop the negatives ourselves. The film was being stupid and also we did some mistakes so it is all overexposed and damaged.

I'm posting it here anyway as it was my first time with this stuff, but I'm not going to bother to edit these :P

Oh and I got some nice little packages in the mail from you der olafson. I'm not sure it is for my birthday, but I will pretend so and save it until sunday :)

I agree, the 'mistakes' definitely add to the feel of them. It's fun developing your own stuff. I only just bought my first digital camera. Very fun.
26th-Feb-2009 09:24 pm (UTC)
i wouldn't describe it as "fun". just a lot of measuring chemicals and waiting and struggling with the film :P

but i like the idea that there is noone else involved in the process

If you ever need help with actual film, feel free to ask me anytime.

Just FYI:
With B&W developers nowadays, most of them have to be within a few degrees, and within a minute or two of the recommended time & temp. Most of them are pretty lenient with the specific rules.

If you do color negs however, they actually have to be within tenths (.1's) of a degree, and just a few seconds -/+ concerning time.

Thanks!

There are many guides and tutorials online, but I still think it's difficult and complicated...

I like the overexposure..it gives them a light and "old" look as if they are from the 1940's! AWESOME shots, and the film is so deep and rich..I love film :)
26th-Feb-2009 09:25 pm (UTC)
thanks!

Actually, I like them. And the kodacolor film is rather ironic since its shot in black and white.

The tree branches are beautiful! Shooting in film will really give you a greater sense of getting the light. :)

The light and the colors can be so nice I think. It's the only reason why I'm drawn to it really.

Ooooooh I do love those photos. They def have a certain charm, and I kind of love the scratchy "manual" look :]
26th-Feb-2009 09:26 pm (UTC)
Haha that is one way of putting it :P
26th-Feb-2009 08:14 pm (UTC)
