so i'm sorry for neglecting my journal all week

I haven't even been all that busy. Been playing a lot of games on my iphone :P (feel free to recommend me good ones!)

We're really starting to get into the swing of the bread baking thing now. I don't know if I wrote about it before, but Sam got this bread baking machine from Lolo for Christmas. I was opposed to the idea, because from experience I was really sure it would just take up a lot of space in our little kitchen and never get used :P It did take him a little more than a month to actually install it, and a couple more weeks after that again to try the baking, but now we've been baking a few! Sam is really into all the possibilities of recipes and things to add in the bread, but I'm mostly just happy to have proper home made bread that I can eat. It doesn't stay good for as long as the pre sliced ones we get from the supermarket, but it's so tasty. Really good! And a lot better for the body as well.

So far, so good! Now all we need is a bread knife :P

I have mine in English, but you can set it to whatever you want :P

Yes, less additives, and more proper ingredients.

Do you have a proper Cheese knife?
25th-Feb-2010 11:50 pm (UTC)
Yes! It gets used for different stuff though. We don't have that many knives :P

awesome. we got a bread maker too here and i LOVE it. i usually just use it now to kneed the dough and stuff though. once the dough is ready, then i take it out and bake it in the real oven - so it looks more like a normal bread! lol. or sometimes i make like little whole wheat rolls. yummy :D

now go buy a bread knife already!

But if you don't use it, what's the point? You just use it as mixer :P

we use it as a regular bread machine once in a while, but it does more than a mixer for dough. i mean, the timer tells it when to mix the dough, but also how long to let it rise, punch it down and so on, rise again, repeat and so on... so it's kinda convenient even for making dough. you just add whatever ingredients you decide on, set it to "dough" and then it goes through the whole process and you don't deal with it until you are ready to roll it and bake it. but like i said, sometimes we bake right in the machine too if we want that shape for loaves ^^

I'm on my second bread machine in 5 years. I wore the first one out. Not only do they make wonderful bread but perfect pizza dough.

Cool! We haven't been that diverse yet.

I guess I'm old fashioned - I love the feel of kneading bread dough, the way it smells, the way it rises. It does make a mess though.

Can't be bothered :P

I want to scream:february’s weather is even worst than january’s !!
You’re going to hate me for writing this but your life with Sam really looks like you’re a couple, you know, living in a little cosy cocoon… I had roomates in the past and i’ve never been able to have this level of complicity with them. To be honest, i just found it annoying, this lack of privacy !
Anyway, have a nice rainy day !

Yeah! I still prefer now though, as we get a lot more sunshine.

And today was warm ^__^

I've never had this kind of harmony with people I lived with before. I'm blessed!

Take leaven / levain (fr.) and wholemeal for really delicious bread. But to handle the leaven is a bit lavish (like your rabbit). I agree, you can take best ingrediences and you know what is inside.
I've got a bakery round the corner who makes the best bread in town and the most delicious bread i've ever eaten. (You know, i'm a bon viveur.) So i don't must do it for myself.

Paris has millions of bakeries, but then you have to go out :P It's nice to have more control.
