OK so the way it works in Norway is that unless you subscribe for cable you can only get about 4 channels on your tv, all of them Norwegian. When you do subscribe to cable, the usual thing is to get the basic package with about 15-20 channels. It is what most people have, and it is what we have. And every so often the company providing this package changes which channels that go in it. They just changed it again at the beginning of this month.
There has been quite a bit controversy this time because they were removing MTV and replacing it with some new Norwegian music video channel called The Voice. It upset me as well. Even though it has been heading in the wrong direction for a long time with all those shitty dating/reality/whatever shows, it's still MTV. Why the hell would they take MTV away, it's one of the top channels for teenagers and other younge people. And they are about to split MTV Nordic up into several parts as well, making one for just Norway. WTF we said.
But oh was I wrong. I don't miss MTV at all. The Voice still seems kinda amateurish, but I'm sure they will find their identity fast enough. And they play music videos almost aaaall the time! No fucking "Room Raiders" or "Sweet Sixteen". It feels very refreshing. And the commercial part is even better. No more Jamba feels great, and the commercial breaks are ridiculously short. I was watching it just now and one break just had one commercial. One! Sweetness :)
Aside from The Voice, we got Cartoon Network back as well. Great news, cuz I missed that. I love cartoons :P And oh oh oh there is this new entertainment channel that I can't remember the name of, but I love it :D Star TV? I dunno. It's filthy filthy low but I love eeet!
